A 90 mile race over a rolling course doesn't sound so bad, but I don't think I have hurt so bad in over a year. I got in a break with 45 miles to go and I felt great. I hammered so hard for the first 20 miles that the other 6 in the move were yelling at me to slow it down a bit. It didn't matter because I just completly blew up with 25 miles to go. I couldn't do anything, I was seeing spots, my legs were cramping, and I could only pull occasionally. I think that is called a "hero ride" which in my dictionary is: a fred who takes off at the beginning of a long ride and hammers like it's nobody's business and then can barely get home. Well that was me, but my pride didn't let me get dropped so I hung on for dear life and finally the finish came. I ended up fifth. Sucks to be Rish for two days in a row, oh well that is racing. Gammer stuck it out for fifteenth.

Road Race:
88 miles out in the Country near Raleigh in what is now known as North Carolina, Rish flatted again, Mark made the front move, I tried to bridge and got really close, but didn’t make it…..then another break went, I missed it, tried to bride, got right there, then didn’t make it: is there a trend here? At least I suck consistently, at this point there are 14 guys up the road and the payout is on 15 deep and there is still 35 miles left, I swear this is the story of my life…..

Well anyway, there are 2 ways to do things, The Right Way, and the Gamm Way……1) The Right Way: Sit in, have some water, watch the front, make a late move, take the last money spot 2) My Way: get really pissed, attack, go solo for a few miles, wait for some guys to bridge up, do a ton or work, cover their attacks, then blow their doors off in the sprint……My Way get the same thing done as the Right Way, it just 1) takes longer 2) hurts a whole lot more C) I see spots 4) I end up really tired VI) Smurfs start talking to me 6) I then need chocolate ice cream to feel better about myself, well I guess that goes for both ways actually

Thanks to all the Juniors today that feed us, well feed Mark and Rish at least, apparently I no longer know how the take a feed, guess I killed those brain cells in college, better work on that before le Tour of Ohio….
